Handwerken zonder Grenzen 149 (okt-nov 2008) is uit en het is met maar liefst drie artikelen over breien een echt breinummer geworden. Nancy Bush leverde als voorproefje voor haar boek ‘Knitted Lace of Estonia’ een patroon van een klassieke driehoekige shawl. Ik word steeds benieuwder naar het boek…….
Marjan Hammink (Yarnissima) stond haar FireStarter patroon voor toe-up-sokken af voor publicatie. Het patroon, dat ook te downloaden is op het internet, is in het blad verrijkt met veel foto’s om de opzet en bijzondere Bavarian stitches te verduidelijken.
Handwerken zonder Grenzen 149 (Oct-Nov 2008) is for sale now. It contains three articles about knitting which makes it is a real special knitting issue. Nancy Bush gave a pattern for a triangle shawl as a sample of her book ‘Knitted Lace of Estonia’. I’m getting more and more excited about this promising book…….
Marjan Hammink (Yarnissima) let her FireStarter pattern for toe-up socks be published. The pattern, that you can also download for free on the internet, is in the magazine enriched with lots of photos to make clear how the caston and the special Bavarian stitches should be knitted.
En ik sta er ook in! Met Twijnend Breien!
Het artikel over deze techniek met zoveel mogelijkheden, waar ik zo enthousiast over ben, neemt maar liefst acht pagina’s in beslag. Ik ontwierp wanten en een muts met ruitmotieven en sierrandjes die ik Kerstin doopte als eerbetoon aan mijn vriendin Kerstin Jönsson uit Zweden. Door de patronen uit te voeren in wolwit, maar ook in drie kleuren, zie je goed het verschil in effect van deze steken in één- en meerkleurig breiwerk. Selja, ons mooie nichtje, was bereid om model te staan wat haar beslist de status van topmodel zal verschaffen.

The article about this technique with so many possibilities, where I’m so enthousiastic about, fills eight pages. I designed mittens and a hat with a checkered motif and some decorative borders that I named Kerstin as a tribute to my friend Kerstin Jönsson from Sweden. By knitting the designs in wool white, but also in three colours, you can see what the difference in effect is between one- and more coloured knittings. Selja, our beautiful nice, was willing to be the model and will from now on be seen as topmodel.

hey Carla, wat leuk dat artikel, ik had het al gezien, eindelijk weer eens eens een HWZG die de moeite waard is!!
Kan ik eindelijk het geleerde op ons o zo leuke workshop in de praktijk gaan brengen. Ik denk dat ik voor de muts ga.

Bedankt voor je artikel ik ben er superblij mee!
Ik ben net bezig met de muts maar ik kom er toch niet zo goed uit.
Maar nu met jouw artikel hoop ik er dan toch aan uit te komen.

Hey! Could you give me some advice on how to get a copy of this magazine? I live in Germany and would like to get it for my mother, who lives in the United States and is obsessed with twined knitting. I haven’t seen it at any stores here, of course, and can only find older issues on the internet (doesn’t help that I don’t speak Dutch…) I thought maybe you could tell me where I might get a copy online??! Thanks! N
