Life ‘n Knitting

Wat hebben we het fantastisch gehad! Een week Estlandse breivakantie met tien gepassioneerde breiers. Met maar een echte regendag (uitstekend breiweer) en verder hooguit een buitje was Tallinn op z’n mooist. Wat een prettige stad; lekker eten, leuke shopjes, cultuur, gezellige straatjes, gezelschap van de Estandse Monika die we allen in het hart sloten en vooral veel Kasitöo, het Estlandse woord voor handwerken. Houd je dan maar eens in. Beladen met wol en bij de meesten veel overgewicht in de koffers kwamen we vanmorgen zonder extra kosten weer aan op Schiphol en Düsseldorf. De checkin bond een label ‘heavy’ aan mijn koffen en zelfs mijn jaszakken waren volgepropt met wol die er echt niet meer bij kon in de koffer.

We had such a good time! A week Estonian knitting holidays with ten passionated knitters. With only one rainy day (excellent knitting weather) and just a few showers Tallinn was at it’s best. Such a nice city; nice food, shops, cosy streets, culture, the company of the Estonian Monika who earned a warm place in all our hearts and Kasitöo, the Estonian word for crafts. Try to restrict your self buying anything you want. Loaded with wool, most of our suitcases were too heavy but without extra costs, we landed in Schiphol en Düsseldorf. The checkin attached a label stating ‘heavy’ to my suitcase and even in my pockets were some of the balls of yarn.

We leerden elkaar beter kennen en weten nu zo goed wat we aan elkaar hebben. Ingeborn en Jans deelden een kamer en sloten een weinig voor de hand liggende maar o zo goeie vriendschap. Jami en Fiona vroegen zich soms wel eens af waar ze aan begonnen waren met de luidruchtige Nederlandse breiers en onfortuinlijke Juul brak haar arm, maar kwam er al heel snel achter dat ze er echt niet alleen voor stond in Estland. Corrie H., Anke, Marnel en bovenal Hil, ik mis jullie nú al! En iedereen mist Monika!

The friendship between the knitters grew and we know each other better and better now. Ingeborn and Jans shared a room and became the strangest couple of friends together. Jami and Fiona sometimes wondered why they joined in with this group of loud Dutch knitters and poor Juul brook her arm, but soon found out that she wasn’t without friends in Estonia. Corry H, Anke, Marnel and above all Hil, I miss you already. And we all miss Monika!

Ik ga nu even bijkomen van de reis, maar wie alles wil weten over de reis, de wol, de workshops enz, leest de komende tijd op Life ‘n Knitting. Ik heb ruim 1000 foto’s en videootjes gemaakt en de anderen hebben vast ook nog wel wat op de camera. Beleef deze ongelooflijk bijzondere reis met ons mee…..
