Aran Knitting, the fabulous book with intricate cable patterns by Alice Starmore from 1997, has been unavailable for years now. On the internet the book will cost at least a few hundred dollars. It even ranks 8 in the top ten of the most sought-after books. While sooo many knitters would love to have it!
To persuade Alice Starmore to have the book reprinted we held a campaign on The Dutch Knitters site from January 2008 until August 2009. Some 400 knitters signed the petition for getting the book Aran Knitting reprinted. We offered this petition to Alice Starmore during the IKnit Weekender in September 2009 in London. She highly appreciated the interest of so many knitters for her book and after the reprint of Fair Isle Knitting she seriously wants to consider the possibilities of having Aran Knitting reprinted, which will hopefully lead to a reissue.
Latest news: Aran knitting will be reprinted in the fall of 2010 by Dover Publications! They will also start selling the Bainin Aran Yarn recommended by Alice Starmore in many of her designs.
