Carla Meijsen (known on the internet as Carla M) and Hilly van der Sluis met each other at Stitch 'n Bitch Utrecht in 2005. What began as a mere hobby, soon became hobby and work. In January 2009 they founded the company The Dutch Knitters. In this capacity Carla en Hilly give classes in The Netherlands and abroad. The course Advanced Knitting (Het Betere Breiwerk), a serious 8-lesson course for advanced knitters is given at least twice a year in Utrecht and Amsterdam. At fairs and knitting events The Dutch Knitters can almost always be found with an enjoyable Dutch Knitting Café. Also in Paris and London.....

Carla started the knitting project Sampler M in 2005.
Through this Yahoo-group worldwide almost a thousand knitters knit a copy of an antique knitting sampler. After having finished this Sampler M you can continue with Sampler CM, a sampler composed of antique stitch patterns by Carla.

In 2007 more knitters want to use patterns from Japanese knitting books. Carla started the Yahoo-group Knitting in Japan in order to give knitters from all over the world the opportunity to decipher the patterns together. With almost a thousand members this group is a big success as well.

In 2008 Carla started the Yahoo-group Twined Knitting and in 2009 Knitting in Estonia.
Hilly is moderator of above-mentioned groups.

You can read more about all knitting activities on Carla M's Knitting knitblog Life 'n Knitting.

In 2006 en 2007 Carla en Hilly organised The Dutch Stitch 'n Bitch Day in the Van Nelle Fabriek in Rotterdam in cooperation with Second Events.
